What is Dysport®?
Dysport is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin injectable used to treat wrinkles that are the result of normal facial movements. Both Dysport and Botox use botulinum toxin to temporarily prevent muscle movement and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles on the overlying skin. Dysport is mainly used to treat glabellar lines between the brows and vertical forehead lines called frown lines, but it is also used to treat crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes and other minor wrinkles. Dysport can be combined with other injectables or fillers to even out severe wrinkles and deeper facial folds. Dysport is a botulinum toxin product that works by blocking nerve signals to reduce muscle contractions, helping treat fine lines and wrinkles and medical conditions such as upper limb spasticity and lower limb spasticity, including in the finger muscles.

Dysport Candidates
Dysport is primarily intended for cosmetic treatments, minimizing fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Dysport and Botox are both botulinum toxin type A treatments also used for conditions like muscle spasms and muscle weakness, but patients should discuss their medical history with a healthcare professional, especially if they have a cow’s milk protein allergy, which may lead to an allergic reaction. The best way to determine your candidacy is by scheduling a consultation with one of our injector specialists.

Dysport Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dysport as good as Botox?
Dysport and Botox are both FDAu2010approved forms of botulinum toxin type A, used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. They’re very similar in terms of effectiveness—most patients can achieve comparable results with either product. The main differences lie in their formulations, how they spread in tissue, and the dosing methods. Which is “better” can depend on the treatment area, your muscle structure, and your injector’s technique.
Which lasts longer, Botox or Dysport?
On average, both Dysport and Botox can last anywhere from 3 to 4 months. Some patients report that Dysport may take effect slightly faster (in as little as 2–3 days) and, in certain cases, may last a bit longer. However, how long each product’s results last varies from person to person—factors like your metabolism, the injection site, and how your body responds all play a role.
How long does Dysport last?
Most patients find that Dysport’s smoothing effects last 3 to 4 months, though some people may enjoy benefits for up to 5 months. Eventually, your body metabolizes the product, and you will notice movement gradually returning. Regular touchu2010up treatments can help maintain optimal results.
What are the disadvantages of Dysport?
Like any injectable treatment, Dysport comes with potential downsides or side effects. Patients may experience bruising, swelling, redness, or headaches near the injection area. Because Dysport can diffuse slightly more than Botox, it can lead to unwanted muscle relaxation (such as drooping eyelids) if not administered by an experienced provider. Patients with certain protein allergies (e.g., cow’s milk protein) may also need to avoid Dysport. Consulting with a trained, qualified injector can help you minimize these risks.
Who is not a good candidate for Dysport?
Individuals with neuromuscular disorders (such as ALS or myasthenia gravis) are generally advised to avoid Dysport. Anyone with an allergy to any of the product’s ingredients, including cow’s milk protein, may not be a suitable candidate. Dysport is also not recommended for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to limited safety data. A thorough medical consultation is crucial to determine if Dysport is right for you.
How much should Dysport cost?
Prices vary by region, the number of units used, and your provider’s expertise. Dysport is typically priced per unit and can range anywhere from $4–$8 per unit. However, Dysport often requires more units than Botox to achieve a similar effect, so total treatment costs can be comparable between the two. It’s always best to consult with your injector for a personalized quote.
Which looks more natural, Botox or Dysport?
Both can deliver naturalu2010looking results when administered by a skilled professional. Dysport can diffuse through tissues a bit more easily, which some practitioners find beneficial for larger treatment areas. Ultimately, your outcome depends more on the injector’s technique, your facial anatomy, and personal preferences than on the product itself.

I’ve been getting Botox and Dysport for many years, but this was my first visit with Blume for Dysport and my first experience with fillers. Julie was absolutely fantastic! She was quick and efficient. Her technique pain management and comfort was great- it was virtually painless. I was apprehensive and nervous getting fillers for the first time, but Julie was able to ease my anxieties quickly. She is a true artist. She assessed my needs and made recommendations based on her assessments and my concerns. I ended up with filler in my temples and cheeks and I absolutely LOVE the results! Extremely natural and subtle, but made all the difference creating a refreshed look. Thanks again!

Everyone here is super sweet, the nurses actually pay attention towards what your looking for, and the place is super clean, neat and gorgeous....It was totally worth it ! Definitely will be coming back.

As someone that was extremely nervous about taking the steps toward their first few appointments, the service was and continues to be phenomenal. While it may be expensive depending on your requested services, it is worth it. They’ll work with you to determine when and if any follow up appointments are truly needed, rather than just getting you in as soon as possible for another appointment. As well, you get some perks for your birthday and there’s always deals on certain products that they’ll gladly work with you to determine what’s best.
