What is Sciton BBL®?
The Sciton BBL® (Broadband Light) laser is a powerful technology that stimulates the body’s natural healing process and resurfaces the skin for incredible anti-aging results. Since the BBL® laser uses multiple wavelengths of light energy, it can treat a wide variety of common skin concerns.
This FDA-approved treatment targets pigmented skin, redness, uneven skin texture, and vascular lesions (visible blood vessels) then breaks down the pigmentation to create an even tone. Sciton BBL® can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, and back of the hands for full-body skin rejuvenation.
What to Expect
Sciton BBL® treatment or a BBL® Photofacial can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. Your medical aesthetician will first clean your face to remove any makeup or face creams you might have applied, and you will be given a protective eye shield to wear during treatment. A clear gel will be applied to the skin to protect it and keep you comfortable while the BBL® applicator distributes light energy across the problematic areas of the skin.
Sciton BBL® Results and Recovery
There is no downtime or recovery required after a BBL® Photofacial, but you should avoid sun exposure since this can worsen your hyperpigmentation. Over the next week, the pigmented lesions will darken and flake off. Do not pick at the flaking pigmentation since this can damage your skin.
Once your treated skin is healed, you will see a brighter complexion and more even texture. For optimal results, about 3 BBL® treatments scheduled one month apart are recommended but how many treatments you may need varies for each patient.
